The Spurtle has become one of my most used kitchen tools. So, I thought I would be decedent and make a special batch out of American Cherry.
Traditionally used for stirring porridge and soups in a pot by the Scottish that dates back to the 1500's. The thistle shaped top fits beautifully in your hand adding to the motion of stirring. The rod type shape and whisking action is said to stop lumps from forming. You will find all sorts of uses for this tool. Great for stirring custard, gravy and soups.
Stunning to look at and display. Would make a lovely gift for someone.
Finished in a food safe oil-wax finish. Warm hand wash and dry thoroughly. If you wish you could apply a mineral oil periodically to renew the finish.
